Rangers to make formal bid for playmaker, triple swoop on cards for coming days - report

Rangers are set to make a formal bid for Hamilton midfielder Greg Docherty, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims that the Light Blues made an initial approach for Docherty, 21, last week, but will now table an offer to the Accies in order to continue Graeme Murty’s overhaul of the first-team squad.
Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy have already been signed by Rangers this month and it is understood that they are also closing in on the captures of Jason Cummings and Russell Martin to complete a potential triple swoop within the coming days.
Nottingham Forest forward Cummings, 22, arrived in Glasgow on Sunday night and is on the verge of agreeing to join the Gers on loan, while Norwich defender Martin, 31, is also expected to move to Ibrox on a temporary deal this week.
Scotland Under-21 international Docherty has been impressive for Hamilton this season.
The midfield playmaker has made 25 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and supplying six assists.
Football Insider verdict
All three of these signings will be brilliant for Rangers. Murty and director of football Mark Allen look to have targetted domestic talent in order to overhaul the squad this month after Pedro Caixinha almost exclusively bought players from Spanish and Portuguese-speaking nations in the summer. Probably Caixinha’s only decent signings were Alfredo Morelos, Daniel Candeias and Declan John, so it is understandable why Murty and Allen have decided to completely revamp things in January. The arrivals of Cummings, Martin and Docherty should surely see some of Caixinha’s flops leave.
In other Rangers news, fans have lost their minds on Twitter after huge developments in this striker’s future, with one saying Alfredo Morelos “will be moving”.
