Rodgers under fire from Celtic fans on Twitter after disastrous debut

Brendan Rodgers has been lambasted on Twitter after  Celtic were humiliated by semi-professional outfit Lincoln Red Imps on Tuesday night.

Red Imps beat Celtic 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying clash after Lee Casciaro etched his name into Gibraltar folklore with his second-half strike.

It was Rodgers’ first game as Celtic boss and prompted criticism of the players and staff from red-faced Celtic supporters.

Red Imps are the country’s record champion with 22 league titles, the last 14 of which have been consecutive, and in 2014 they were the first team to represent Gibraltar in the UEFA Champions League.

Celtic have won the last five league titles in Scotland, but the last four have lacked the challenge of rivals Rangers and this is worst possible start to their campaign.

This season sees the return of Rangers to the top flight and they are expected to pose an instant threat after four years in the wilderness.
