Leeds’ two priority transfer targets ahead of the deadline next Tuesday are Ashley Fletcher and Sergi Canos, according to a reliable journalist.

The duo have been the two players most strongly linked with the Championship big hitters this month as Garry Monk aims to strengthen his squad before the window cut-off.

But there were fresh reports of interest elsewhere on a busy day of transfer activity on Friday as playmaker Alex Mowatt was sold to Barnsley and Monk urged the Leeds board to push through the signings he has identified.

Sky Sports reported on their transfer centre blog (Friday, 4.49pm) that Leeds are in a three-horse race with second tier rivals Brentford and Rotherham to land prolific Grimsby striker Omar Bogle.

It is said that Leeds have made enquiries with Grimsby about capturing the League Two leading scorer after Rotherham had three bids rejected, with the final one amounting to £850,000.

But Radio Yorkshire journalist Rawson took to Twitter to report that Leeds’ attention is still centre of West Ham striker Fletcher and Norwich winger Canos.

Rawson, who is a reliable source of Leeds information, claimed on his personal Twitter account that the duo “remain the top two players on the Leeds wanted list”.

Asked by a Leeds supporter on Twitter which of the two transfers was the priority, Rawson replied that “Fletcher looks the most likely”.

But the broadcaster and journalist explained that it was dependent upon Premier League club West Ham completing the signing of Scott Hogan from Brentford.

The Hammers have been in talks with the west London outfit to push through the deal for weeks but have not yet met the £15million valuation of the 24-year-old.

Rawson also explained that Leeds were now pursuing a loan deal for Fletcher rather than a permanent transfer.

Leeds have made it clear they are in the market for goalscoring reinforcements before next Tuesday with manager Monk claiming a striker is a “priority”.

Chris Wood has shouldered most of the goalscoring burden this season, netting 20 goals in all competitions, 15 ahead of his closest challenger Souleymane Doukara.

In other Leeds news, there has been a finale in a major deal after a £7million Leeds bid was tabled.
