Alan Hutton gushed about Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn after the Villans drew 2-2 with Burnley on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Villa full-back dubbed McGinn as the main man for Dean Smith’s side and shared he couldn’t sing the midfielder’s praises enough after Saturday’s clash.
McGinn starred in the Villans’ draw with Sean Dyche’s side as he was involved in the build-up to Anwar El Ghazi scoring the opening goal of the game to put Villa ahead, and got on the scoresheet himself in the 79th minute.
Hutton, who played alongside McGinn last season, explained that in order for Villa to do well then the 24-year-old has to do well and stated that the midfielder was delivering the goods currently.
When asked about McGinn’s display in the 2-2 draw v Burnley, Hutton told Football Insider: “He’s the main man for me, honestly I can’t sing his praises enough.
“Since the day he walked into the club until now, he has been unbelievable, to be honest.
“His power, his running, his goals, his attitude, he is top-class and not just that, he is a down-to-earth guy.
“So he’s the main man for Villa, first-name on the teamsheet at the moment and for Villa to do well, Villa need him to do well and that’s what he is doing at the moment.
“He’s really standing out on his own, he’s such a good player, a massive player for them.”
McGinn has played every minute of Aston Villa’s Premier League campaign so far and has racked up three goals as well as one assist in the process.
The 24-year-old arrived at Villa Park in August 2018 from Hibernian after scoring 17 goals and registering 29 assists in 136 appearances for them.
In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that the club have set their sights on a £20million-plus January signing.
