'Unconvinced' - Exclusive: Darren Bent blasts Everton player who started v Burnley

Darren Bent blasted Everton defender Lucas Digne as he admitted he didn’t understand why he was rated so highly.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England striker shared that he knew Digne had a great left foot but didn’t see why he was deemed captain material.

Football Insider recently revealed that Carlo Ancelotti sought assurances about the Everton futures of Richarlison and Lucas Digne before becoming Toffees boss as he regards them as the club’s most valuable playing assets.

Bent explained that he understood why Ancelotti would make Richarlison a priority but didn’t get why he’d view Digne highly as there were other players more vital to the Toffees’ team.

When asked about whether it’s huge Ancelotti could have a lot of faith in Digne as not one of the headline acts at Goodison Park, Bent told Football Insider: “It’s got to be for him, but for me…I’m unconvinced by him to be fair.

“I know he’s got a great left foot and is their captain, but I just don’t see it.

“I understand why Richarlison would be a priority, but I just don’t get it with Digne as there are several players I’d be put ahead of him for being more vital to that team.”

Digne has racked up four assists as well as contributed one goal to the cause in his outings so far during the current campaign.
