Kyle Walker-Peters is undergoing a Southampton medical after after they agreed a deal to sign him on loan from Tottenham, Football Insider can reveal.

The right-back, 22, has arrived at the Saints to finalise a move for the rest of the season.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that the deal is finalised subject to formalities and Walker-Peters passing medical test.

West Ham tried to hijack the transfer with a late swoop yesterday for the former England Under-21 international but they were rebuffed.

Crystal Palace have also been edged out by Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

There is not expected to be a permanent option included Walker-Peters’ Southampton loan as they could not agree on a fee with Tottenham.

The Londoners set a £15million asking price for a player who has 24 first-team appearances under his belt and started the season in their starting XI.

They are hopeful the loan will help the development of Walker-Peters, who has a contract that has three-and-a-half years remaining, as well as enhance his market value.

Jose Mourinho gave the green light for the departure of the defende, who has been carrying a hamstring injury and was once again not named in the Tottenham squad for their 1-1 FA Cup draw against Southampton last Saturday.

Walker-Peters has not had a single minute of Premier League action since the Portugese took over as manager in November from Mauricio Pochettino.
