Wallace tipped to dazzle in Glasgow as Rangers and Celtic work on 'top' signing

Millwall winger Jed Wallace could join Rangers ahead of Celtic next year and be an Ibrox sensation, according to Kevin Phillips.

The 2000 European Golden Shoe winner, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, heaped praise on the 27-year-old who “has been a top player” for the Lions since arriving to The Den since 2016.

According to Football League World (September 10th), the ex-England Under-19 international is wanted by a host of English clubs – as well as Old Firm duo Celtic and Rangers.

Wallace has entered the final 12 months of his contract at The Den and could be signed on a free next summer.

The wide-man has enjoyed a great start to the 2021-22 campaign, with three goals and three assists to his name in eight Championship appearances.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Wallace would be a good signing for Rangers or Celtic, Phillips said:

“Wallace has been a top player for Millwall over the past few years. He has proved to be a good signing for them.

“I think he would shine if he went up there. He has all of the attributes to move up to Scotland, settle in quickly and do really well.

“We know he possesses a lot of quality so if he goes up to Rangers, which I can see happening, Steven Gerrard will be getting a player who can slot into that squad quickly.

“On a free it really would be a no-brainer.”
