Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka and have scheduled a fresh round of talks to finalise the £55million transfer, Football Insider understands.

The Premier League giants have been working on making Wan-Bissaka their second signing of the summer for weeks and have held extensive negotiations with the Londoners over the structure of the deal.

A United source has told Football Insider the club are confident an agreement is nearly in place and that a deal worth £55million including add-ons is nearly settled.

There are still some details to be finalised, but all parties expect that to be done at a meeting in the next 48 hours.

United have pencilled in a medical for Wan-Bissaka, although the exact timing of it depends upon England's progress at the Under-21s European Championships.

He has already agreed personal terms with Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer's side and his salary will be multiplied many times as he completes the transfer 18 months after breaking into the Palace first team.

The right-back is currently on duty at the tournament in Italy, where he scored an own goal in stoppage time to consign the side to defeat in their opening group match against France on Tuesday.

Aidy Boothroyd's side lost 2-1 after conceding twice in the last few minutes against France and need to beat Romania Under-21s on Friday to keep alive their hopes of making the semi-finals.

Only the group winners are guaranteed to advance into the semi-finals.
