Watch: Kodjia attempts to recreate Matt Lowton volley for Aston Villa against Stoke

By Amir Mir

Jonathan Kodjia attempted to recreate Matt Lowton’s magnificent volley for Aston Villa against Stoke from the Premier League in 2013.

Right-back Lowton, who now plays for Burnley, scored the superb goal as then Villa manager Paul Lambert saw his side claim a 3-1 win at the Britannia Stadium.

Ivory Coast international Kodjia successfully recreated the goal for BT Sport at his first attempt as his fellow teammates Birkir Bjarnason and Jack Grealish watched on.

Here is Kodjia attempting that wonder goal from Lowton four years ago as posted by the club’s official Twitter account.

Striker Kodjia moved to Villa Park last summer from Championship rivals Bristol City for a fee that could rise to £15million depending on performances.

During his time at the Midlands club, the 27-year-old has been one of the more successful players for a side that is struggling in the second tier.

Kodjia has scored 11 goals for Steve Bruce’s men this season in 29 Championship games.

He will be hoping to take to the field on Tuesday night as his former club visit Villa Park for a midweek Championship encounter.

Bruce’s side recorded a much-needed three points at the weekend when James Chester’s first-half header saw off promotion chasers Derby County.

Kodjia played the full match during that fixture as he is the only fit and available senior striker at the club at this moment in time.

In other Aston Villa news, these are the three free agents Steve Bruce could sign as he reportedly looks to bolster strike force.
