Arsenal fans are sweating on the fitness of key defender Gabriel, with fans urging one player to show his worth in his absence.

Gabriel picked up an injury for Brazil during their international friendly against Senegal at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.

The 27-year-old has started all 11 Premier League games for the Gunners, with Mikel Arteta's side four points clear of Man City at the top of the table.

Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from their 2-2 draw at Sunderland, with their first game back after the international break against rivals Spurs, whilst they have also got crunch clashes with Bayern Munich and Chelsea upcoming.

William Saliba must 'step up' for Arsenal

Gabriel's centre-back partner William Saliba has returned from international duty with France unscathed and looks set to start the north London derby.

Saliba struggled during Arsenal's Champions League win at Slavia Prague, and many supporters now believe Gabriel is Arteta's number one centre-back.

One supporter called Gabriel "irreplaceable" on social media, and it looks like either Cristian Mosquera or Piero Hincapie will come into the back four against Spurs.

Gabriel also picked up an injury at the end of last season, and are not happy that the defender played in a friendly match over the international break.
