COMMENT

Celtic looked in complete control of the game against Hibs at Easter Road on Sunday, with the Hoops 2-0 up thanks to two second-half goals from Scott Sinclair.

However, the Bhoys almost conspired to lose the game as Neil Lennon's side roared back with two goals in three minutes to claim a point and could have won the game but for a late goal-line clearance by Mikael Lustig.

The Hoops remain five points clear with a game in hand at the top of the Scottish Premiership, but manager Brendan Rodgers won't be pleased with the way the team crumbled in the second-half.

He will be expecting better as Celtic's busy schedule continues with games against nearest challengers Rangers and Aberdeen in the weeks ahead.

There were plenty of low points and high points in the rollercoaster of a Premiership clash.

Craig Gordon must be axed to bench

Celtic goalkeeper Gordon was at it again, almost costing the Hoops all three points in the game as he conspired to drop a harmless cross and almost conceded a last minute winner for Hibs.

The first-team mainstay's blunders are become more frequent, he was even fault for the goal in the recent 5-1 win over Motherwell.

A place on the bench for the upcoming match against Hamilton would make sense, Dorus de Vries has already proved this season that he can be an able deputy.

Defensive reinforcements required in January

Watching Dedryck Boyata and Jozo Simunovic's poor performances it became clear that the Hoops really need to sign new defenders in the January transfer window.

The pair have regressed this season in comparison to the rock solid partnership they formed last season, and both players could easily be replaced in the side at the moment.

If no new defenders are signed for the challenges ahead then the Bhoys' stay in the Europa League could prove to be a short one.

Edouard not ready to be main striker

In a way it was understandable that Brendan Rodgers selected Odsonne Edouard to be the main striker following his hat-trick in the 5-1 win over Motherwell.

However, Hibs at Easter Road is a far tougher prospect, and apart from a shot against the post which lead to Scott Sincair's first goal, the player struggled to get into the game.

Whilst the player undeniably has talent, the match seemed too frantic for the 19-year-old and it seems likely he'll be back on the bench for the upcoming match against Hamilton.
