Cheick Tiote is set to leave Newcastle by Wednesday – and supporters have paid tribute to the long-serving midfielder on Twitter.
The former FC Twente star is most likely to sign for Turkish giants Galatasaray after travelling to Turkey to complete a move that will see him team up with Euro stars such as Wesley Sneijder, Lukas Podolski and Selcuk Inan.
Fringe player Tiote has been expected to leave Newcastle throughout the entirety of the window, and a photo of him at Istanbul airport appears to confirm his time is up.
The Chronicle’s chief sports writer Lee Ryder claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday afternoon that the 30-year-old has a number of offers on the table, including one from Galatasaray.
Reports in Turkey of Tiote to #Galatasaray accurate but he has more than one offer. Looks likely to go.

Tiote has just 12 months remaining on his St. James’ Park deal, after signing with the north-east outfit in 2010 for £3.5million.
Fans still hold Tiote in their hearts following an impressive six-year stint with the Toon, with many recalling his finest moment in a Newcastle shirt that saw him score a screamer against Arsenal to earn a 4-4 draw.
Here are a selection of their tweets:
Without doubt Cheick Tiote's finest moment in a Black & White shirt!
Thank you Tiote!

Tiote was my favorite #nufc player for a time a few years ago. Still feel he could've been useful this season. All the best, one hit wonder!

The goal against Arsenal was Tiote’s only strike for the Magpies. One fan decided to comment on his prolific nature off the pitch, rather than on it.
Tiote has been with the Toon since 2010 and has made over 150 appearances for the club, but struggled for consistency and fitness since sustaining a serious knee injury in February 2015.
In other Newcastle transfer news, manager Rafa Benitez has given this response to speculation surrounding this French winger.
