West Brom have had a bid accepted by Basel for centre-forward Albian Ajeti but he has his heart set on joining West Ham, Football Insider understands.

The Championship big hitters have offered around £8million for the prolific Switzerland international but have not come come to an agreement with the player.

A West Brom source has told Football Insider the club have matched Basel’s asking price for the 22-year-old but he has his doubts about moving to a second-tier outfit.

A West Ham source explained that the Londoners have been told Ajeti wants to join Manuel Pellegrini’s side but they are still some way from getting a deal done.

Brentford are also keen on Ajeti as they look to replace Neal Maupay, who signed for Brighton for £20million yesterday.
