Sources: Pellegrini puts block on West Ham attacker exit, he's set to play next week

EXCLUSIVE By Wayne Veysey

Manuel Pellegrini has put the block on West Ham winger Nathan Holland leaving the club before the League Cup clash against Newport County next week, Football Insider has learned.

The Hammers rising star, 21, has made a big impression for the club’s Under-23s and done enough to convince the manager he is ready for first-team action.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider that Holland is set to feature in the club’s cup trip to League Two outfit Newport on Tuesday night.

A decision will then be made on whether the winger remains at West Ham or goes out on loan.

Holland has attracted interest from Championship and League One clubs this summer but West Ham have knocked back enquiries for their academy product.

Third-tier Bolton Wanderers were pursuing a deal but the resignation of Phil Parkinson as manager this week may have scuppered that possibility.

There are alternative League One and League Two loan options for Holland, and the window for such deals remains open until the end of the month.

England Under-19 international Holland is held in high esteem at West Ham, where he has played just once for the first team but scored and assisted regularly for the Under-23s.

In other West Ham news, it can be REVEALED that the club have opened talks over a mammoth deal that could be worth up to £31million.
