Kenny backs 'big-time' Origi to dazzle at West Ham after transfer update

Divock Origi has all the attributes to shine at West Ham under David Moyes.

So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old Liverpool striker.

As revealed by this site on 9 August, West Ham have opened preliminary talks over signing the Belgian centre-forward and a source has updated to reveal discussions are ongoing.

Liverpool initially wanted £20million-plus in January but a Hammers source has told Football Insider that £15m could now seal a deal.

Origi has three years remaining on the contract he signed in 2019 but his future at Anfield is up in the air.

Kenny highlighted Origi’s propensity to score goals in big games and insisted that he would be a hit at the London Stadium.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “He always came on and scored a lot of important goals for Liverpool.

“He is a big-time player. You only have to look at some of the occasions he has scored in to see that.

“He has got goals in the Champions League and in big Premier League games as well.

“This is why I love Moyes. I think he’s done amazing things at West Ham. Anyone who goes there is only going to benefit from playing under him.

“I’m sure Origi will be exactly the same if they do get him as well.

“He’s not going to be someone that goes in and upsets the dressing room either, which is always a good sign.”
