West Ham set to battle PL rivals for significant deal that could transform club - report
West Ham are set to battle Huddersfield Town for Lokomotiv Moscow’s sporting director Erik Stoffelshaus who has helped sign several key players for the club.
The Sun reports that the Premier League clubs are keen on Stoffelshaus despite him only joining Lokomotiv Moscow in January as he has an excellent reputation for finding and developing young talent.
The same report refers to sources in Russia believing that Stoffelshaus has transformed the Lokomotiv Moscow’s scouting system while working on a limited budget.
Lokomotiv Moscow have signed Soloman Kvirkvelia, Maciej Rybus, Eder and Nikita Medvedev under Stoffelshaus guidance, and the new recruits have helped lift their side eight points clear atop of the Russian League.
The report claims they could try to lure Stoffelshaus in by next season, with Tony Henry their current director of player recruitment.

West Ham used to be famous for their youth system with the likes of Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand among others coming through, but this hasn’t happened so much in recent years. And it looks like Reece Oxford could be off in January. If Stoffelshaus could help not only find talent to sign but develop the talent already there, it could be a game changer for the Hammers. Also based on the report it seems Stoffelshaus is capable of achieving success while working on a budget which is an added bonus. West Ham should be able to see off Huddersfield Town’s interest by showcasing the training facilities and the visually impressive London Stadium.
