Sources: West Ham will accept £6million Vladimir Coufal offer

West Ham are willing to sell Vladimir Coufal in January but are not in talks with Bayer Leverkusen, sources have told Football Insider.

The Irons are ready to let the right-back, 30, go in the winter window as they look to raise cash following a busy summer of transfer activity.

It is believed an offer of around £6million could be accepted by West Ham for a player who started the first six Premier League matches of the season at right-back.

Coufal has been linked in Germany with a potential move to Leverkusen amid claims talks are scheduled with his agent about exploring a deal.

West Ham will sell if their valuation is met but there has yet to be any movement behind the scenes.

The Czech Republic international is out of contract next summer, but the Irons have a two-year option to extend it.

Coufal began the season as West Ham’s regular right-back, with starts in seven of their first eight Premier League matches.

But he has slipped to third in the positional pecking order, with summer signing Thilo Kehrer and academy graduate Ben Johnson preferred to him in the two months preceding the World Cup break.

The versatile Kehrer has spent most of the campaign at centre-back but started the last three Premier League matches at right-back.

Each of those fixtures – against Man United, Crystal Palace and Leicester City – resulted in a defeat for West Ham.

Coufal has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season – including 13 starts – but nearly half of his game time has come in the Europa Conference League, when David Moyes sometimes rests his main stars.

The 34-times international has made 87 appearances for West Ham since signing from Slavia Prague in the summer of 2020 for around £5m.
