Sources: West Ham submit 'big-money' Memphis Depay offer after Barcelona green light
West Ham have submitted an offer for Barcelona star Memphis Depay, sources have told Football Insider.
It emerged on Thursday (11 August) that an unnamed London club have offered the Holland international, 28, a mega-money deal to try to lure him to the Premier League.
Football Insider can reveal that club is West Ham, who have turned their attention to Depay as they look to recruit a top-class forward.
The Irons have already signed one centre-forward this summer, with Gianluca Scamacca joining in a £32million deal.
But manager David Moyes wants further competition for places up front and has set his sights on landing Depay on a free transfer.
West Ham have offered a big-money contract to the Dutchman that could see him be their best-paid player.

It could be a masterstroke, given Depay’s calibre and the possibility Barcelona could let him go without a fee being paid.
He has a contract at Camp Nou that runs until the summer of 2023, but the Catalan giants are desperately trying to raise funds and lower their wage bill to register their summer signings.
Barcelona are currently unable to register their five marquee captures – Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen – with La Liga insisting the club must raise around £85million before Saturday’s league opener to register these additions.
West Ham have previously hit stumbling blocks in their attempts to sign attackers Armando Broja, Arnaud Danjuma and Jesse Lingard.
Depay has interest from other clubs, with Juventus among those pushing to sign him.
He scored 13 goals in 36 matches for Barca last season and has an impressive track record at Lyon, PSV Eindhoven and Man United as well as the Holland national team.
