West Ham close to securing defender deal - report
By Dominic Toner
West Ham are close to giving a new deal to defender Winston Reid, according to a report.
The Daily Mirror claim that the Hammers are prepared to offer the 28-year-old a new contract at the London Stadium.
It is understood that the centre-back will be offered a deal of more than £70,000-a-week, which would bring him level with summer signing Jose Fonte.
The report details that West Ham are keen to improve Reid’s contract, despite him signing a new six-year deal in 2015.
Reid has developed into a crucial player for West Ham since his arrival in 2010 and been a regular under Slaven Bilic.

The New Zealand international has made 31 appearances across all competitions this season and formed a new partnership alongside Fonte.
He has chipped in with two goals this season, including the winner against Sunderland in October.
Reid has now racked up 198 appearances for West Ham and has been unable to help the side push on towards the European spots this season.
Bilic’s side were expected to kick on at the top-end of the table, but a poor start meant they were battling fears of relegation.
