West Ham United summer signing Pablo Zabaleta sent the club’s supporters into a frenzy on social media following his colossus performance on Monday evening.

The 32-year-old made his home debut for the Hammers in the Premier League match against newly-promoted Huddersfield Town and he produced a trademark display, providing solidity at the back and supplying an attacking outlet on the flank.

The full-back earned his first Premier League clean sheet with his new club as West Ham picked up their first three points of the season with a 2-0 win at the London Stadium.

The result means that the Hammers are off the foot of the Premier League table, moving up two places into 18th position.

Hammers supporters were quick to take to social media and express their delight at the defender’s performance with many feeling that Zabaleta deserved to go home with the Man of the Match award.

Zabaleta’s teammates Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll were also identified as the star men of the night with Carroll especially enjoying a fine return from his spell on the sidelines due to injury.

The Hammers supporters will be hopeful that their team can now build on this result and start to mount a serious challenge to finish in the top-half of the table.
