West Ham fans blast Arnautovic display during loss v Man United

By Harvey Byrne

Summer signing Marko Arnautovic played the full 90 minutes of West Ham’s 4-0 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday – and Hammers fans on Twitter blasted his display.

The east London club travelled north to Old Trafford for their 2017-18 Premier League opener, but it was one to forget after two goals from Romelu Lukaku and strikes from both Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba ensured Slaven Bilic’s side started with a defeat.

A number of supporters felt that the West Ham attack weren’t offering enough going forward, leaving the Manchester United defence with little to do.

One of those attackers was Arnautovic and fans on social media particularly complained about the Austrian’s deliver from set-pieces.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Arnautovic completed a move to West Ham earlier in the summer from Premier League rivals Stoke in a deal reported to be a club-record £20million, which could potentially rise to £25million with add-ons.

The attacker would have been hoping to have had a bigger impact on his debut, but a trip to Old Trafford certainly is a tough stage for any player to make their bow.

West Ham’s next fixture will see them travel to St. Marys to face Southampton and Arnautovic will be looking to win Hammers fans over on the south coast.

In other West Ham news, Mark Noble made this claim about the Hammers squad ahead of the league opener.
