Kieran Maguire blasts PAI for latest Gold-Sullivan claim West Ham fans will hate
PAI Capital are tone deaf and will “say anything” if it brings them any closer to buying West Ham.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest takeover developments at the London Stadium.
The Evening Standard reported on 24 September that investment firm PAI have effectively pulled out of trying to buy West Ham.
But PAI frontman Nasib Piriyev claims their offer remains on the table and that they are prepared to compromise on the terms of a potential deal.
Speaking to the Athletic’s Football Podcast on 7 October, Piriyev said “we are open” to installing David Gold and David Sullivan as lifetime presidents.
Gold and Sullivan remain overwhelmingly unpopular figures at the London Stadium despite the club’s recent upturn on the pitch.

PAI adopted a fan-centric approach in the takeover PR war, bringing the likes of Tony Cottee and the Ferdinand brothers on board.
But Maguire claims PAI’s suggestion that they would give Gold and Sullivan a seat at the table for life is indicative of their tin ear.
“This doesn’t chime with their takeover approach,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“They got Tony Cottee in, and the Ferdinand brothers and claimed to be big West Hams fans.
“But this is business, and PAI are looking at West Ham purely from a real estate perspective.
“They will say anything that allows them to take over the club. I don’t think the football side of things is their focus at all. It’s populist tokenism.”
