Report: West Ham battle to sign goalscoring midfielder, he is keen to play in England
By Dominic Toner
West Ham are interested in signing Pescara midfielder Ahmad Benali, according to a report.
The Sun claim that the Hammers are in competition with Premier League rivals Southampton for the 25-year-old.
It is understood that the £3million-rated player is keen on a move to England after spending the last five years in Italy.
The report details that Italian clubs Atalanta, Bologna and Genoa have made offers for Benali, but he would prefer the Premier League sides.
Benali has been an ever-present in the midfield of Serie A club Pescara this season, but has been unable to see them relegated from Italian top-flight.

The attacking midfielder has made 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and supplying two assists.
Football Insider verdict:
West Ham certainly need to bolster their squad next season and goals from midfielder is a must. They have yet to really fill the void left by playmaker Dimitri Payet and the Hammer should consider splashing out on a talisman. Benali has proved to be a useful player in a struggling Pescara side and is not someone that most West Ham fans will have heard of. He was at Manchester City as a youngster and played for their youth sides, but is keen on proving himself in England. The midfielder has two international caps for Libya and has proved he can be effective in front of goal. However, he is not the calibre of player that West Ham need if they are to fulfil their ambitions of competing for the European places.
