West Ham keep tabs on Belgium ace amid possible goalkeeper departure - report

By Harvey Byrne

West Ham are one of a number of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Belgian goalkeeper Matz Sels, according to a report.

Football news website HITC claim that Middlesbrough are in pole position for his signature, but West Ham and Everton have also been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old.

West Ham already have two senior goalkeepers at the club in the shape of Adrian and Darren Randolph, with the latter coming home from an impressive Euro 2016 campaign with the Republic of Ireland.

However, Southampton are believed to be interested in a move for Randolph, who joined on a free transfer last summer following his release from Birmingham.

It means that the London club may have to be on the lookout for a new back-up goalkeeper.

Sels is yet to earn an international cap for his country, but he did find himself in the Euro 2016 preliminary squad, although he narrowly missed out on selection.

The shot-stopper starred for Gent in the recently completed season, making 53 appearances in all competitions and conceding just 57 goals.

This included eight appearances in the Champions League where the Belgian side were knocked out by Wolfsburg in the round of 16.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are looking to add to their squad by signing defender Nicolas N’Koulou.
