Jack Grealish is ripping up the Championship with Aston Villa at the moment and West Ham should go all-out to sign the young attacking midfielder.
It’s time for West Ham to move away from their policy of targeting overseas transfers and build a team round a homegrown talent.
Grealish is that man.
He’s turned a corner this season and is lighting up the Championship with a string of impressive displays.
He’s one of the big reasons that Villa are knocking on the promotion door this season, but it looks like they’ll have to go the hard way up – through the play-offs.
That’s never easy and if they fall at the play-offs then West Ham should swoop in and try and take Grealish from them.
The 22-year-old is ready for the Premier League and West Ham can offer him regular first-team football and rebuild their team around him next season.
He’s under contract until 2020 so he won’t come cheap but West Ham should be able to persuade him to push for a move to the Premier League and a bid of £15million should seal the deal.
Grealish has come up through the youth ranks at Villa and it looked like he might not live up to his early promise, but this has been his season.
At this rate it won’t be long before he’s a full England international and the player has the world at his feet if he can push on and prove himself in the top flight.
However, he’s still flying under the radar somewhat and West Ham can take advantage by making him their number one summer target.
He might not be the marquee signing that some supporters want but they’ve seen how some of those work out.
We’re convinced that Grealish could be the difference maker for West Ham next season.
