West Ham news: Campbell addresses 'million dollar question' for Tomas Soucek after Tottenham transfer report

Kevin Campbell has tipped Tomas Soucek to sign a contract extension at West Ham despite interest from Tottenham and Juventus.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton striker expects the 27-year-old to show loyalty to the Irons after David Moyes “plucked him from obscurity.”

Soucek has just over two years remaining on his current deal at the London Stadium.

A West Ham source told Football Insider (11 February) that the club want to tie down the centre-midfielder to a new deal.

According to the Express (3 May), Spurs and Juventus are interested in signing the £40million-rated Czech Republic international.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if a move to a Champions League club could tempt Soucek, Campbell said: “Of course it could.

“Anyone would be tempted by the prospect of playing Champions League football.

“I’m sure West Ham will try to renew his contract. I’m certain they will. Whether he takes it or not is another matter. That is the million dollar question.

“David Moyes plucked him from obscurity really. It has given Soucek an opportunity to show his worth. I think Soucek will be loyal because of that. I could see him signing a new deal.

“He might lose his midfield partner in Declan Rice but I think he will stay. It would then be Soucek’s midfield. He would be the main man. That would be interesting.”

In other news, a pundit has suggested this is what has ‘let Aaron Cresswell down’ as West Ham training ground ‘change’ touted.
