West Ham tipped to overcome 'big problem' to land 'brilliant' Jesse Lingard signing - pundit

West Ham should reignite interest in Jesse Lingard this summer as his Man United exit nears.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s future.

Lingard, 29, has only started two Premier League games this season after failing to move away from the club in the summer of 2021 and in January.

The out of favour ace is out of contract this summer and is expected to leave Old Trafford.

He moved to the West Ham on loan in January 2020 where he scored nine goals and registered five assists.

Kenny insists Lingard will find his best form if he returns to the London Stadium this summer.

“Look, we all saw how good he is once he gets a run in the side, he’s brilliant,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’m sure he will have been disappointed not to play for Man United that much his season, especially after the manager said he would.

“It’s an easy deal for West Ham to do, he’s been there before and they tried to sign him in January.

“The one big problem they face is that they aren’t the only club who will be interested.

“It’s rare that a player of his quality is available on a free so there will be loads of options.

“I just hope he can find someone who will give him the chance to prove how good he is.”

As revealed by Football Insider, the Red Devils rejected a £5million loan bid for Lingard from Newcastle in January.

West Ham failed to sign any attacking reinforcements during that window.
