West Ham told to sign Armando Broja alternative after source's update - pundit
West Ham should be looking to sign a more proven striker than Armando Broja this summer.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Hammers’ hunt for a new striker.
Football Insider was told by a West Ham source on 4 June that Broja, 20, is a top target for the club this summer as they plan for a centre-forward signing.
The latest update is that there is growing hope among Broja’s suitors that Chelsea could be willing to sell him this summer to fund signings elsewhere.
Irons boss David Moyes is a big admirer of the forward’s pace, mobility and eye for goal, and believes he has huge potential to develop.
However, Kenny isn’t convinced by Broja.

“I think they have to be looking at someone who is more proven,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Listen, he’s a 20-year-old kid, he’s learning his trade. If he comes in, he will be coming off the bench a lot of the time.
“He won’t get much game time. For me, they have to look bigger.
“Scoring goals cost West Ham at the back end of last season. They should have gone out and got a striker [in January].
“I think they have to look at others instead of a kid who scored six goals in the Premier League last season.
“He’s one for the future but they need someone who will be more consistent and get them more goals.”
Antonio scored 10 league goals in 2021-22 – just two of which came after New Year’s Day.
Broja scored nine times while on loan at Southampton during the same season.
