Crysencio Summerville lambasted by ex-Tottenham man after quitting West Ham

Crysencio Summerville has made a purely financial decision by joining Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal from West Ham United this summer.

That is the opinion of former Tottenham, Aston Villa and Everton scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The 24-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Saudi Arabian side, after a fee in the region of £60million was agreed.

Summerville had interest from Roma, Villa, Manchester United and several other sides, but has committed his future to Al Hilal.

West Ham have received a far greater fee than they likely would have from any of the other interested clubs, but it is the winger's decision that has prompted discussion.

After a strong individual Premier League season for West Ham and a great World Cup for the Netherlands, Summerville has placed himself out of Europe and out of relevancy.

There is no secret to why numerous players have taken moves to the Saudi Pro League in recent years.

The money is absurd and a four-year contract, in Summerville's case, may well earn him life-changing amounts of money for his family.

But the forward would hardly have been on a pittance if he had taken a move to Villa or Man United, and potential progression could have earned him another big move in the future.

Ambition and money often clash, and for Summerville, money appears to have won out.

"He's another one! He's 24, played for the Netherlands. 24-year-old, going to Saudi Arabia. It's financial. It's financial," King told Football Insider.

"He can't be going there for the football. He must see the football as we do. You're going to live a very restricted life over there, by the way."

Iliman Ndiaye may follow Summerville

Al Hilal have followed their move for one promising Premier League attacker by chasing another.

Iliman Ndiaye is in talks to leave Everton to join the Saudi Pro League club, in another move that would see a promising player turn down moves elsewhere.

Man United and Villa are again said to be among the sides interested in the 26-year-old, but neither team will pay the Toffees' asking price.

It remains to be seen if Al Hilal do, but Ndiaye appears to be keen to see the move go through.
