El Hadji Malick Diouf may have harmed his chances of sealing a move away from West Ham this summer after what he did against Norway in the World Cup.

The Hammers' left-back was a regular throughout last season and caught the attention of several suitors for some impressive performances.

Their relegation to the Championship has raised doubts around his future, with the likelihood of a move seemingly increasing as he was called up to Senegal's World Cup squad.

Diouf struggled in their opening 3-1 loss to France last week, but could be forgiven for his issues against one of the best players in the world, in Michael Olise.

The 21-year-old followed that up with another shoddy showing against Norway in the early hours of Tuesday morning, as Pape Thiaw's side slipped to a 3-2 defeat.

Diouf may well have linked away from the London Stadium, but he has failed to prove his quality so far this summer.

Previously interested clubs are bound to be put off by his poor performances, with a longer stay in East London seeming as likely as ever.

Senegal were in real need of at least a draw against Norway on Tuesday morning to set up the chance to accrue four points in Group I against Iraq later this week.

Alarm bells were ringing early on down Diouf's left flank as Pedersen was allowed to run beyond him and deliver a cross into Martin Odegaard before he fired over the bar.

His poor game was encapsulated by manager Thiaw's decision to take him off in the 54th minute, as replacement Ismail Jakobs went on to have a bigger impact in both boxes.

Diouf failed to create a chance as he completed one accurate cross from three attempts, while he won just two ground duels and failed to win any of his five attempted aerial duels.

The 21-year-old also committed a foul and made just five defensive contributions, so certainly damaged his chances of a move away from West Ham this summer.
