This is why Daniel Kretinsky is blocking Amanda Staveley investment at West Ham - Finance expert

Daniel Kretinsky is unlikely to want to share decision-making at West Ham United despite being able to unburden himself of all the risk.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that Amanda Staveley will be anything but a "silent partner" should she come aboard.

After weeks of rumours, reports finally emerged that the former Newcastle United director was interested in purchasing a stake at the London Stadium.

Despite it being understood that Kretinsky would buy the Gold Family out, Staveley could now purchase the 25.1 per cent stake, leaving the Czech billionaire surprised.

Kretinsky is now making moves to block the 53-year-old, and husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, from doing so ahead of the 2026-27 campaign kicking off.

The situation has left many supporters confused as to why the co-owner wouldn't want further investment in the club, leading to claims of him being "selfish".

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson expressed his confusion at the situation, trying to understand why Kretinsky doesn't want Staveley to join.

"Well,the question is, why does he not want all of it? That would be my question. I don't know what the answer is," he said.

"People like him rarely want other people in the mix. Yes, of course, it saves you the capital and shares some of the risk. But it means that your decisions are not your decisions.

"It means you've got to share decision-making. And there's no question that PCP and Staveley are going to have plenty to say. They're not coming on board to be silent partners.

"They're coming on board to have influence, or I think, at best, to run the thing. So, and he might be fine with that ultimately. Maybe that's the answer to this conundrum.

"Maybe he wants to own just under 50 per cent and have somebody else run it for him in a similar way to the Man United and INEOS situation.

"That might be the game. I don't know. But it does seem a bit strange."

West Ham ownership situation can wait to be solved

It would appear that the Hammers' ownership situation is not a pressing matter, not at least while they're back in the Championship next term.

Speaking to Football Insider, Borson said: "It's more an issue for next season anyway. It's not really an issue for this season.

"The squad and the wage bill should be more than enough to get them out of this division this season."

The situation changes completely should the Hammers fail to win promotion back to the Premier League, of course, but that will be a problem for next summer.
