Sources: Brentford submitting improved new West Ham offer
Brentford are preparing to place an improved £37million bid for West Ham United defender El Hadji Malick Diouf, sources have told Football Insider.
The Bees have seen their last three offers rejected for the Hammers left-back as they look to secure his signature before the transfer window closes.
The 21-year-old is keen on a return to the Premier League after being part of the West Ham side that was relegated to the Championship last season.
Diouf had played in West Ham’s opening Championship match of the season as they drew 2-2 away to Burnley.
However, the Senegal international was absent from the squad during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic.
Last season, Diouf made 32 appearances in the Premier League and picked up five assists for the Hammers.
Brentford determined to secure El Hadji Malick Diouf signing
For Brentford, this season presents another opportunity for them.
Unlike previous campaigns, none of their star players have departed the club so far this summer.
After missing out on Europe on goal difference last season, Keith Andrews will be hoping to finally secure this historic achievement this campaign.
If Brentford can secure the signing of Diouf this summer, it could go a long way to ensuring that the club is playing in Europe during the 2027-28 season.
However, it remains to be seen whether their next offer will be accepted by the Hammers, as they aim to win promotion back to the Premier League as soon as possible.
What other business could West Ham complete this summer?
In comparison, West Ham have had a terrible start to their campaign.
The Hammers are without a win in their opening two league fixtures, with widespread signings clearly needed before the transfer window slams shut.
Luckily, Football Insider has exclusively revealed that West Ham are well placed to win the race for Amario Cozier-Duberry this summer.
The Brighton and Hove Albion winger has attracted interest from a host of teams this summer, including Rangers.
The Scottish Premiership club have already seen two offers rejected for the 21-year-old, who helped guide Bolton Wanderers back to the Championship last season on loan.
However, Rangers would not be able to financially compete against the likes of West Ham, which could be key going into the final days of the transfer window.
