West Ham can wave goodbye to Callum Wilson, Coventry move is no-brainer with 'provisional offer' on table
West Ham United are surely about to wave goodbye to striker Callum Wilson, with his former club Coventry City lining up a move for him.
The frontman is out of contract at the London Stadium this summer, having made significant contributions to their relegation fight during his short-term deal.
The 34-year-old netted seven Premier League goals in 2025-26, including a vital stoppage-time winner against Everton, although his efforts ultimately proved to be in vain.
West Ham are staring down the barrel of a major rebuild following their relegation to the Championship, and are set to lose several of their key players this summer.
They have already made it clear that they are keen to keep Wilson if at all possible, but the veteran is sure to have plenty of options open to him elsewhere.
Coventry City interest poses real threat to West Ham offer
Coventry City are working to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League next season, and they already have Wilson in their sights, according to ExWHUEmployee.
The Sky Blues are showing a keen interest in their former star alongside fellow newly-promoted side Hull City, which spells serious trouble for West Ham.
The Irons are understood to already have a "provisional offer" on the table for the former Newcastle hitman, but it is expected that he will want to stay in the Premier League.
Coventry are now able to provide that opportunity for him, as they line up a deal that would surely be hugely popular among their fans.
Wilson has proved in 2025-26 that he still has plenty to give in the top-flight, and he could be an extremely useful option for Frank Lampard to impact games from the bench.
With that in mind, it is surely a no-brainer for Wilson to try to return to the CBS Arena this summer, as it would tick a lot of boxes for all parties.
Callum Wilson has already made exit intentions clear
West Ham may have an offer on the table for Wilson, but he has already issued a message on social media that suggests he has already checked out.
The striker posted a lengthy message on his Instagram account at the end of May, as he thanked the fans for their support during his time in claret and blue.
The wording of Wilson's closing message in his statement raised eyebrows as he wrote: "I truly hope you return to the Premier League, where you belong, as soon as possible."
That undoubtedly reads like a player who is not expecting to be part of the team next term, and that is arguably as clear an indication as any that West Ham's efforts to keep him will be in vain.
