West Ham Source: El Hadji Malick Diouf sale to trigger Harrison Burrows bid
West Ham United are ready to firm up their interest in Sheffield United left-back Harrison Burrows if El Hadji Malick Diouf leaves this summer, sources at the club have told Football Insider.
The Irons have already identified Burrows as a clear target for the left side of their defence, but are delaying any offer until they get more clarity on Diouf’s long-term future.
Sheffield United have already lost Andre Brooks this summer, and are determined to try to keep Burrows at all costs in the coming weeks.
Sources have indicated that they would want a “big profit” on their previous £4million investment in the 24-year-old, and will try to price West Ham out of a move.
Burrows notched five goals and four assists in the Championship last term, and was named in the division’s team of the season back in 2024-25.
West Ham are plotting a move to prise him away from Bramall Lane ahead of next season, but are waiting on Diouf’s exit as the trigger for a deal.
What is the latest on El Hadji Malick Diouf’s future?
Football Insider revealed at the end of May that Everton are already “working on” a deal to sign Diouf this summer, who enhanced his reputation significantly in his debut Premier League campaign.
The Senegal international notched five assists in 2025-26, and his form has seen him emerge on the radar of both the Toffees and Manchester United.
West Ham shelled out £19m to sign him from Slavia Prague last summer, and it is understood that they would want to make a big profit if they sold him this summer.
Diouf is among a group of Irons stars that are expected to face heavy interest throughout the summer window, with the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville also firmly in the spotlight following relegation.
Interest in Diouf has died down somewhat while he has been away at the World Cup, but with Senegal now out of the tournament, it is likely to spike once again in the coming weeks.
Nils Koppen 'connection' concerning for West Ham
Former Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider last week that he believes that Nils Koppen may not have been the best option to become West Ham's new director of player recruitment.
The Scottish businessman expressed concern over the "connection" between the Belgian and the Irons' interim CEO Karim Virani, who both previously worked together at Rangers.
Wyness made it clear that he hopes West Ham have opted for Koppen due to thorough research into his work, rather than as an easy option due to the existing link.
Koppen is due to start his work at the London Stadium imminently, as he becomes part of the effort to secure an immediate promotion back to the Premier League.
