West Ham United fans fume after Niclas Fullkrug’s exit details emerge
Niclas Fullkrug officially departed West Ham United on Tuesday after the unpopular striker signed for Werder Bremen on loan.
The 33-year-old will stay at the German outfit until the end of the 2026-27 campaign, after previously spending the latter half of the 2025-26 season on loan to AC Milan.
Fullkrug has developed a terrible reputation at the London Stadium and has only netted three times at the club to date, despite once costing them £27million.
As a result, it is of little surprise that West Ham fans want him gone, after being a key reason why the club were relegated last season.
Therefore, it was revealed that the loan had no option to buy, Hammers fans were furious.
The 33-year-old still has a contract at the East London club until 2028, meaning that there is now a chance he returns again next summer.
West Ham fans appalled Niclas Fullkrug loan deal has no option to buy
Fullkrug’s move to West Ham has clearly not worked out.
Last season, the striker failed to even net once for the Hammers, despite making nine appearances in the first half of the campaign.
Therefore, many supporters were hoping that a permanent solution could be found this transfer window.
However, Florian Plettenberg has since revealed that there was no option to buy in the loan deal, meaning he is currently set to return to the London Stadium in 12 months’ time.
As a result, West Ham fans were furious and were quick to take to X to express their anger at the decision.
What other business could West Ham complete this summer?
Former West Ham scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Jordan James could move to the London Stadium before the transfer window closes.
The Rennes midfielder is a target for the Hammers after he won the Young Championship Player of the Season award last season at Leicester City.
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Middlesbrough have been heavily linked to the Wales international, with the former club thought to be the frontrunners.
However, West Ham are now planning to step up their interest in James and beat their promotion rivals to the signing.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the club are capable of getting a deal over the line.
