West Ham United fans will love what Craig Bellamy said about target Dylan Lawlor
West Ham United are eyeing a move for Cardiff City’s highly promising centre-back Dylan Lawlor this summer transfer window.
The Wales international is valued between £7million-£10m, with the Hammers believing the defender can help them secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
The 20-year-old played a key role at Cardiff last season, playing 32 games in League One as they won promotion back to the Championship.
However, it did not just impress in the third-tier, with Wales manager Craig Bellamy heaping praise on the youngster after he made his senior international debut.
The Cardiff star was awarded the man-of-the-match award as Wales beat Kazakhstan 1-0 back in September 2025.
Now, West Ham will be looking to utilise this ability to take the club to the next level.
Craig Bellamy: Dylan Lawlor is so good
Wales Online on 9 June have reported that West Ham will face stiff competition for Lawlor this summer.
The defender is wanted by at least three Championship sides, while two Champions League and one Europa League club have also been monitoring the defender.
Lawlor won the Young Player of the Season award at Cardiff this season and is seen as one of Wales’ most promising upcoming players.
This is reflected in Bellamy’s review of Lawlor’s performance back in September as he heaped praise on the defender.
He told BBC Sport on 5 September: "I was so impressed with Dylan Lawlor. He was so good.”
There is no doubt that West Ham fans will love this assessment as they look to assemble a squad that is capable of not only winning promotion but also reestablishing themselves as a Premier League side.
Who else are West Ham linked to?
Former West Ham scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that the Hammers are big fans of Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
The 24-year-old impressed at Southampton this season and could be allowed to leave the South Coast club this summer.
This comes in the wake of the spygate controversy, which is believed to have a number of Southampton's star players considering their long-term futures at St Mary's.
The defender has previously won a cap for England and could well partner Lawlor in the 2026-27 campaign if Nuno Espirito Santo gets his way this summer transfer window.
