West Ham make new plan to agree Troy Parrott deal - 'He could be tempted'
West Ham United are eyeing a move to sign AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott as part of their plans to strengthen their attack.
However, the Hammers will find it tough to convince the 24-year-old to move to the second tier of English football amid top-level interest from rivals across Europe.
The Republic of Ireland international enjoyed an outstanding season for AZ in 2025-26, as he scored 31 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 appearances across all competitons.
Former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Parrott is high on their list of targets, and Nuno Espirito Santo hopes to convince him of the move.
Potential promises about his role in the side, the club's aims for the new season, and the attraction of a move back to London, could appeal to the striker.
Despite that, it will be difficult for West Ham to beat their rivals to a deal, and they may instead be forced to consider other options in the market.
Could West Ham make a move for Troy Parrott?
Brown told Football Insider at the start of last season that West Ham have been keeping tabs on Parrott amid an increased likelihood of a return to Premier League football.
The striker came through the ranks at Tottenham after joining as a 15-year-old from Irish outfit Belvedere, and could now be tempted to return to London after departing in 2024.
Meanwhile, West Ham will be able to offer guaruntees of first-team football and ambitious plans to return to the Premier League, but that may not be enough.
"It looks like it would be a very difficult deal for West Ham to do," Brown told Football Insider.
"A lot will depend on the player and what West Ham are willing to promise him, because he would be guarunteed minutes and they obviously are aiming to win promotion.
"That means he could end up in the Premier League next season, but it's about whether he is prepared to take a step down into the Championship in the meantime.
"Maybe he could be tempted by a move back to London, because he was at Tottenham before, and in my experience that is a draw for a lot of players.
"But West Ham will have a lot of work to do if they want to convince him of the move, because there is no shortage of interest in him from clubs who are probably better placed."
Which other strikers are on West Ham's radar?
Despite their newly-emerging interest, Parrott is far from the only striker on West Ham's radar, as they continue to eye a number of potential targets this summer.
Nuno is determined to bolster his attacking options amid ongoing fears that they could lose at least one of their current strikers after suffering relegation.
Football Insider revealed on 27 July that West Ham are among a number of European clubs plotting a move to sign FC Metz striker Habib Diallo.
The 31-year-old is expected to be available on a cut-price fee this summer after he was unable to help his side avoid relegation from Ligue 1 at the end of last season.
News of his availability has placed a number of clubs across Europe on high alert, with West Ham made aware of his situation as they aim to bolster their attacking ranks.
