West Ham set sights on re-signing Axel Disasi - transfer expert

West Ham United are plotting a move to re-sign Axel Disasi from Chelsea after his successful loan spell at the end of last season.

The 28-year-old became an important part of Nuno Espirito Santo's side, where he played a big role in their end-of-season form despite their relegation to the Championship.

He is now expected to leave Chelsea this summer, and West Ham are now considering a move to bring him back to the London Stadium if he can be convinced.

Former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Disasi will be made promises about his place in the squad and the club's ambitions for the coming season.

Following their relegation, West Ham were expected to be out of the running for Disasi's signing, but they now feel they could make him a tempting offer.

It has also been suggested that a loan-to-buy deal could be on the cards, with a permanent move to be triggered should they achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Could West Ham reignite their interest in Axel Disasi?

Football Insider revealed in May that Disasi was happy at West Ham and would have been open to staying permanently had they remained in the Premier League.

Their relegation dealt a big blow to their chances of signing the centre-back, especially given the interest from elsewhere, but it cannot be completely ruled out.

Nuno and his side are set to explore whether or not he would be willing to return to the London Stadium, and believe they could tempt him to return this summer.

"Disasi is very much still on West Ham's radar," Brown told Football Insider.

"After the job he did for them last season where he really shored up their defence and almost led them to survival, it's a no brainer if the deal is going to be possible.

"They will make him promises about his role in the side and their ambitions for the season, and hopefully that will be enough to convince him of the move.

"It's difficult when you're in the Championship, but if they can show him they plan to get promoted at the first time of asking, then there might be a deal to be done.

"Even if it's only a loan move for now, and then they can sort out a permanent deal if they get promoted, that's something I'm sure they will explore.

"Whether or not it will be enough to convince him remains to be seen because he does have a lot of other suitors at better-placed clubs.

"But the positive is he knows the club, he knows the area, he won't have to move too far from Chelsea, and the manager knows how he fits into his plans, so that's why they want him back."

Which other clubs are interested in signing Disasi?

Despite the Hammers remaining confident that a deal can be done for the Chelsea centre-back, Disasi's availability has put clubs across Europe and the Premier League on alert.

Multiple Serie A and Ligue 1 clubs have been linked with moves for the centre-back, while Premier League sides including Crystal Palace have shown an interest.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed in May that Leeds United are interested in signing Disasi and are keeping a close eye on his situation at Chelsea.

Daniel Farke's side were interested in the Frenchman during the January transfer window, but utlimately missed out when he completed his move to East London.

The addition of a new centre-back is high on their list once more this summer, and there remains a possibility that they could reignite their long-term interest.
