West Ham will be confident of £80m Mateus Fernandes sale as options multiply
West Ham United look to be in the driving seat as speculation around Mateus Fernandes grows in the ongoing transfer window.
The Portuguese midfielder is reportedly attracting interest from top teams around Europe after signing for the Hammers in a deal worth over £40million from Southampton last summer.
Ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, the Irons are now looking to almost double their investment in the 21-year-old, placing a price tag of £80m on him.
Tottenham Hotspur have now joined the race for Fernandes, giving the London Stadium hierarchy plenty of room to negotiate with different parties.
Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also looking to secure the Portugal international's signature this summer.
The East London club will be confident their demands will be met, given the number of top teams that have entered the race for the ex-Saints star.
Mateus Fernandes transfer update emerges at West Ham
Roberto De Zerbi has identified Fernandes as a top target for Tottenham as they look to exploit the Hammers' relegation from the Premier League.
Spurs are the latest team to express their interest in the midfielder, who scored three goals and provided four assists in 36 league matches in the 2025-26 campaign.
According to The Athletic on 18 June, De Zerbi is pushing for Fernandes' arrival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Man United have already held talks regarding a potential transfer.
As Madrid and PSG also continue to circle the Portuguese youngster, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him in the coming weeks.
London Stadium concerns emerge as transfers could be forced
Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke shared on 19 June that West Ham could be forced to sell Crysencio Summerville due to financial concerns at London Stadium.
The Hammers apparently need to raise £150m after their relegation to the Championship and exits for top players could be forced in E20 in the coming weeks.
Fernandes and Summerville are arguably two of the most highly-rated prospects at the East London outfit and their exits will be a big blow to Nuno Espirito Santo's plans.
