Liverpool are likely to get no more than £30million for Naby Keita this summer if they decide to cash in, Football Insider understands.
The midfielder, 25, has struggled to live up to expectations since becoming the club’s third most expensive signing in history in 2018.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Keita’s value is little more than half the £52.75million Liverpool paid RB Leipzig for him.
Should the Merseysiders decide to cash in this summer they would expect to get £25-30m for the midfielder.
Keita’s future is up in the air as he begins the second half of his third season at Anfield once again injured and out of the side.
The Guinea international has been sidelined with an ankle injury since playing a starring role in the 7-0 demolition of Crystal Palace on 19 December.
He has been available for only 40 per cent of Liverpool’s matches this season and his infuriating Anfield career has failed to build on fleeting moments of promise and excellence.
Liverpool chiefs and manager Jurgen Klopp will have big decisions to make on a number of senior stars on the back of a season that has failed to live up to expectations.
Keita’s situation will be among those discussed and the club will assess his availability, reliability and potential to improve before deciding whether to listen to offers this summer.
Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Man City was the team’s third consecutive loss at home and they now face a major battle to secure a top-four finish.
Klopp could not call up Keita, who has made just six league starts among 11 appearances in all competitions this season.
The midfielder has been unable to match his regular goal contributions at former clubs Leipzig and RB Salzburg.
