'What the hell is he playing at?' - Exclusive: 'Stupid' Tottenham man is slaughtered

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has been savaged for breaking the government’s lockdown rules.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-Leeds United striker Noel Whelan claimed the Spurs boss was “stupid” for clearly breaching protocol on Coronavirus social distancing.

Mourinho was pictured earlier in the week leading a training session on Hadley Common in London with club record signing Tanguy Ndombele, while Davinson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon were also spotted running together through the same park.

The manager has since accepted responsibility for his actions, and reiterated how important it is for the general public to follow governmental advice at this time

But Whelan has slaughtered him for his irresponsible behaviour.

“It’s a lack of respect for the government rules,” he told Football Insider.

“You’ve got young lads looking at that thinking. ‘it’s okay’. They’ll be thinking ‘if they can do it, we can do it’. It’s not the case – nobody should be doing it.

“There’s a lockdown for a reason. No-one is bigger than what is going on right now.

“It’s scary times, it’s worrying times, people are dying, the NHS is overworked, and you’ve got people out there feeling they can do whatever the hell they like. You can’t. You’ve got to set examples.

“Unfortunately, they’ve let themselves down. This is even worse because it’s in plain sight.

“You’ve got someone here who calls himself the Special One. Right now, he’s the Stupid One. It’s irresponsible. What the hell is he playing at?”

Mourinho has also come in for criticism from Sadiq Khan for his actions, with the Mayor of London claiming that the manager’s actions could have “inadvertently potentially spread the virus”.

For their part, Spurs have stated that they have reminded all of their playing and coaching staff to respect social distancing rules when exercising outside.
