Whelan astonished by Leeds development after 'extraordinary' Bielsa reveal
Noel Whelan has been blown away by the training ground improvements funded by Leeds United this summer.
The former Leeds striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the club had gone to “extraordinary lengths”.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference (August 12th), Bielsa lifted the lid on the “significant” improvements at Thorp Arch.
He revealed the Whites had installed undersoil heating on one training pitch.
There is also the potential for two further pitches to be upgraded in the same manner.
The Argentine insisted those in charge had been “impeccable in their work”.

Whelan echoed the praise from Bielsa and insisted it could make a significant difference.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “The training ground development was overseen directly by Bielsa. He oversaw the installation of all the new state–of–the–art equipment over the summer.
“The training pitch is now the exact same dimensions as Elland Road. There’s even now undersoil heating to ensure the first team can train on it all season long.
“If you ask any player in my generation even now, when it comes to weather conditions, especially coming into autumn and winter, sometimes you can’t train on the pitch. The frost is too dangerous.
“They’ve gone to extraordinary lengths to put underground heating on the training ground pitches.
“That goes to show how serious Marcelo Bielsa is about keeping continuity with the players but also consistency in training through any kind of weather conditions.
“It’s quite extraordinary, it’s very professional. I’m not sure how many other clubs have that at their disposal, but it’s unique, it really is.
“It’s a unique approach but it just shows the ambition of the club.”
