'Without doubt' - Exclusive: Whelan claims who will spearhead Leeds attack next season
Noel Whelan has urged Leeds United to sign three strikers this summer as he urged them to bin Jean-Kevin Augustin.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-United striker is convinced the club need superior options to Patrick Bamford and loanee Augustin should they get promoted and expects a more prolific front man to lead the line next season.
Bamford has scored 13 goals for Leeds this season despite starting all but two of their 37 Championship matches for a side who create multiple chances for him every match.
United can sign the Frenchman permanently in the summer but Whelan believes they are in need of superior centre-forwards.
“I think it would be a big risk signing Augustin,” he told Football Insider. “He is not going to do it next year in the Premier League, that would be too much for him. One game in eight months he has played.

“Patrick has done well this season and you can’t fault his work rate. But he is not going to be more prolific in the Premier League.
“We need more strikers, probably three in addition to Patrick. He is a good option, but I don’t see him as the main striker next season if we go up.
“Without doubt, it will be someone who can score regularly at that level.”
Leeds are well placed to secure automatic promotion when the Championship season resumes after football’s suspension, which will not be before 30 April.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are top of the division and seven points clear of third-placed Fulham with nine matches of the campaign remaining.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club are set for a near-£50million announcement.
