Whelan makes bold Drameh prediction after what he's seen at Leeds
Noel Whelan has tipped Leeds United starlet Cody Drameh to push for a first-team role during the 2021/22 campaign after an impressive pre-season.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 19-year-old looks tailor-made to play in a team managed by Marcelo Bielsa.
Drameh, a regular for Leeds’ under-23s last season, caught the eye on Wednesday as a young Leeds XI were beaten 3-1 by an Ajax XI.
The teenager joined the Yorkshire giants from Fulham last summer.
He managed to feature in one Premier League matchday squad during his first season at Elland Road.
However, Whelan suggested the youngster would be knocking on the door of the senior side over the next 12 months.

“I think we saw the success that Mark Jackson had with the under-23s and he was a massive part of that,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“They recruited really well with those young players for the under-23s. They really strengthened, got the promotion they were craving and needed to bring these young players in.
“He’s a full-back that says Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds United. He has got his style written all over the club.
“You have got to be fit, got to get up and down, got to be direct. Also, you’ve got to be able to link up and exciting down either side.
“We talk about a blueprint of players we want, that is what we’re bringing in. Everything that can be a number two to our number one and come straight in to do a similar kind of job.
“Another player that’s very exciting for the future. I’m sure we’ll see him at some point in the season.
“That’s what they’re pushing for and that’s why they’re putting in these performances.”
