Whelan fumes over cowardly Klich after what he spotted in Leeds draw v Chelsea
Mateusz Klich has “not been pulling his weight” for Leeds United and deserved to be dropped against Chelsea, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 30-year-old had been a “passenger” for Marcelo Bielsa recently.
Klich came off the bench to replace Rodrigo with just over 10 minutes to play in Saturday’s 0-0 against the Blues.

It was only the third time the Poland international has failed to start a game in the Premier League this term.
However, he has been hooked at half-time three times by Bielsa, including in the recent 2-0 defeat to West Ham.
Whelan admitted Klich appeared to have lost both some bravery and energy in recent weeks and insisted he deserved to be dropped.

“I think when you look at Mateusz Klich and what he used to give you before this second part of the season, it was a problem to the defence with those diagonal runs in behind,” Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“He doesn’t seem brave enough to do that now. It doesn’t seem like he’s got the energy to get back and defend. He seems to be dying off at the end of games at times.
“He’s been a passenger at times because he set his own standards. We didn’t set them.
“He set his standard of performances and we’ve seen it consistently up until this point. When he’s not consistent and those levels aren’t what we expect, it’s very, very noticeable.
“On one hand, it’s a good reflection on his ability but also a reflection that you’re not pulling your weight right now. You’re not giving us what we expect.”
