Leicester City would be getting a bargain by signing Odsonne Edouard from Celtic for £15million this summer.
That is the view of former Leeds striker Noel Whelan who, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, has ranked the Hoops star among the top young attacking talents in Europe.
The Daily Mail claim Leicester City are closing in on a £15million deal to reunite the 23-year-old with former boss Brendan Rodgers.
It is said that the striker has indicated he wants to rejoin Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium.
Edouard is heading towards the final 12 months of his contract at Parkhead, leaving this summer as the last chance of a big transfer fee for the Bhoys.
However, Whelan has suggested the Glasgow giants could and should be demanding more for their star striker.
Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “£15million is a snip. It really is a drop in the ocean these days for a goalscorer of his calibre.
“It’s a great signing, whoever gets him. I think he’s a fantastic prospect still, still only 23.
“He’s got the attributes, he’s got the style, he’s got the physique. Everything that you’d look for in the modern-day striker, he’s got it.
“I think he’d fit the bill perfectly. The fact he takes set-pieces as well, he’s got the ability to score goals as well from set-plays.
“Looking outside, at Europe, I don’t see too many 23-year-olds getting the recognition that he is. With what he’s done over the last two or three seasons at Celtic, I’m surprised there aren’t others chipping in.”
