Noel Whelan has predicted Marcelo Bielsa will recall Kiko Casilla to the Leeds United starting XI for tomorrow’s showdown against Birmingham City.
Casilla missed Leeds’ 3-2 win over Millwall last weekend as he served a one-match suspension for the red card he received late in the team’s defeat to Sheffield United last month.
Bielsa did not give any clues as to his line-up for tomorrow’s trip to St Andrews but Whelan is in no doubt about one key alternation.
“The one change that will definitely be made is Casilla for Peacock-Farrell,” said Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider. “With his experience and ability, I expect him to be back in goal.
“Casilla is massive for Leeds. He is a cut above Peacock-Farrell. He is a commanding and reassuring presence who gives the defenders confidence. With his shot-stopping and bold distribution, he is a key player and has to go straight back in.”
Bielsa has avoided resting players and rotating his line-up during Leeds’ Championship campaign.
Nearly all of the changes made by the Argentine manager have been a result of injuries and suspensions, with remarkably few players dropped from the side.
Leeds head to St Andrews second in the league with 76 points while Birmingham are 18th with 41 points after suffering a nine-point deduction last month for financial reasons.
In other Leeds United transfer news, Noel Whelan has exclusively told Football Insider his fears that these two Leeds players will QUIT.
