Whelan issues 'amazing' Klich claim after Leeds reveal
Noel Whelan has insisted Mateusz Klich “rose to the challenge expertly” with his “amazing” performance as Leeds United beat Burnley yesterday.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 31-year-old has bounced back from some “real dips in form” this term.
Leeds United recorded their first win since the end of November yesterday (2 January), beating relegation-threatened Burnley 3-1 at Elland Road.
As per LUFCDATA post-match, the Poland international recorded one assist, 21 final-third passes, seven chances created, and nine ball recoveries.
Whelan hailed the midfielder for his role in “dominating the midfield” in the clash.
“He was amazing,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“We’ve had good performances from him and we’ve also had real dips in form from him this season.
“But when we needed someone to stand up and be accountable for us yesterday, he was there and he rose to the challenge expertly.
“We knew we needed to control and command that midfield battle, and we really did – and Klich was a massive part of that.
“It’s such an important part of the pitch, and Dallas, Forshaw and Klich really dominated in there. When you dominate the midfield, nine times out of 10 you will have more attacking opportunities, and that really showed.
“That aggression and ball recovery allowed us to feed the wide men and it was a really big help.”
Klich returned to the side in a starting berth against Arsenal last month following an injury to Kalvin Phillips.
The midfielder has scored one and assisted two across 14 Premier League appearances for Leeds United this term.
The Whites are now eight points clear of the drop zone after 19 games.
