Noel Whelan has tipped Leeds United to rival Tottenham in the race to sign West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
The former Elland Road hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 27-year-old would be on the radar of both Jose Mourinho and Marcelo Bielsa.

Johnstone’s fee is likely to increase if he follows his England call-up by landing his first international cap.
Both Johnstone and Lloris are heading into the final 12 months of their contracts this summer.
Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be keen on a reunion with the French keeper at PSG.
Whelan suggested Johnstone would be a good replacement at Tottenham but tipped Leeds to be in the hunt as well.
Asked who he thought would be in for Johnstone, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I look at Lloris leaving at Tottenham. Maybe that’s something they need to look at and address, that goalkeeping situation.
“We saw the scathing comments that came from Lloris on Thursday night as well. Paris St Germain have always wanted him, I’m sure Pochettino would like to bring him back home.
“Maybe a Tottenham would look good. Maybe a Leeds as well, you know? Never rule them out. We’re always in the market for emerging, top goalkeepers.”
Johnstone has been a standout performer for West Brom this season and looks likely to leave if the Baggies are relegated.
Meanwhile, Illan Meslier has been Leeds’ first-choice shot-stopper this term, having ousted Kiko Casilla from the starting XI last season.
