Whelan tips 'really exciting' Leeds teen for first team role after update via BBC
Noel Whelan has insisted Crysencio Summerville is a “really exciting prospect” for Leeds United after being singled out for praise by Marcelo Bielsa.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker suggested the 19-year-old was knocking on the door to become a first-team regular.
As quoted by BBC Leeds’ Adam Pope on Thursday (August 18th), Bielsa revealed Summerville was “one of the youngsters who has evolved the most”.
He went on to say that the development of the 19-year-old “generates optimism” around the club.
Summerville joined Leeds from Feyenoord last season.
He is yet to make his first-team debut but was on the bench for the 5-1 defeat to Manchester United.

The right-sided winger then kicked off his season among the under-23s with a goal in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Whelan admitted he was seriously excited by the youngster’s potential at Elland Road.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “We keep bringing up this word progression.
“He got under-23 experience last season, he’s now come back again fitter, stronger, hungrier. He’s had a taste of what it was like for the first team, being in and around it, watching from afar.
“Now he wants a little piece of this action, this Premier League action. He was on the bench at the weekend against Manchester United.
“(Against Palace) It was not an easy finish but you see the quality. There’s a lot of things you’ve got to do before you put the ball in the back of the net.
“He did them all exquisitely. A really, really exciting prospect that we’ve got there ahead of us.”
